Chesley Community Players Formed as a group in 1996 and is located in the historic Bijou Theatre in downtown Chesley



Our Mission Statement:
- The Chesley Community Players are dedicated to the promotion of amateur talent, both young and old
- To the promotion of local charitable causes and to the restoration of the Bijou for performing arts
- To provide opportunities for students of drama to learn in a co-operative environment
CCP Profits go Back into the Bijou, Chesley and Surrounding Communities
To date our accomplishments include:
- Producing over 50 plays, musicals, dinner theatres and concerts
- Providing opportunities for local students and adults to participate in the many activities of live theatre and music
- Extending use of the Bijou to other community organizations such as Bruce County Library, Kinghurst School, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 144, Chesley and District Chamber of Commerce
- Working with co-op students from the Chesley District High School
- Invested over $35,000 to restore and improve the Bijou Theatre building
- Invested over $20,000 in facilities with stage lighting, a sound system and stage curtains
- Obtained Ontario Trillium Funding for $75,000 for new and wheelchair accessible washrooms
- We have donated over $38,000 toward betterment of our community and surrounding area
Recipients include:
Chesley Legion, Local Schools, Chesley Locum Loft, Chesley Homecoming, Chesley’s New Library, Chesley Medical Clinic, Hanover Habitat for Humanity, Kinsmen Xmas Parade, and Three local fire departments, Bursaries to Chesley District High School students, Cameras for the Chesley Visual Arts Class, the new Soccer field, Chesley Hospital Auxiliary, CDCS Breakfast Plan, free skating at the arena, Chesley fire victims, Chesley Friends of the Library, Chesley Hospital Auxiliary Palliative Care room, Kinsmen Chesley Santa Claus Parade
